A robot vacuum has become more of a practical necessity than a luxury in Iraqi homes — especially with dust that never seems to end. A smart vacuum sweeps and mops on its own every day, and cleans under the furniture you can barely reach. But models differ a lot in their specs, and this guide helps you pick the right one for your home.
The specs that matter before you buySuction power (Pa)
Measured in pascals (Pa). For carpets and rugs go for high suction (above 5000Pa); for smooth floors, less is plenty. Modern models reach 8000–20000Pa.
Mopping
Most modern robots sweep and mop at the same time. The best ones lift the mop automatically over carpet, then wash and dry it back at the dock.
Self-emptying dock (All-in-One Dock)
The single biggest convenience feature: the dock empties the dust, washes the mop and refills the water by itself — meaning you can forget the robot for weeks without touching it.
Navigation, mapping and the app
LiDAR technology draws an accurate map of your home, and lets you mark out rooms and no-go zones from the phone app. That is a huge step up from cheap models that just wander around randomly.
Battery and home size
The battery decides how many square metres the robot covers in a single run. For small apartments any modern model is enough, but large and two-storey houses need a battery that lasts two hours or more together with resume after recharging — the robot goes back to the dock, charges, then carries on from the exact spot where it stopped instead of starting over. Keep in mind too that a robot cannot climb stairs, so with two floors you will need to carry it between them or save a separate map for each floor in the app.
Filter and hair tangling
With Iraq's dust, the filter makes a real difference. Look for a HEPA filter that traps fine dust and pollen instead of blowing it back into the air, and clean or replace it roughly every two months so the suction does not weaken. Another important point for homes with long hair or pets: a rubber brush (rather than a bristle one) noticeably reduces hair tangling around it, and saves you a weekly session with the scissors.
The best models we stockFor heavy-duty cleaning with a fully loaded dock, an excellent option from Anker eufy: 8,000 pascals of suction that pulls the dirt out of carpet, and the Omni station that empties the dust bag, washes the mop and dries it on its own, with laser navigation that draws a precise map you can split into rooms from the app:
And if you want even stronger suction and more capacity for a spacious home, go for the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Pro — 15,000 pascals of suction that lifts deep dust out of thick carpet, plus an All-in-One Station that empties the dust and washes the mop by itself:
Quick tips- Clear cables and small objects off the floor before the first run so it draws a clean map.
- If you have thick carpet, focus on high suction and automatic mop lifting.
- The self-emptying dock is worth the extra money because it cuts your involvement to the bare minimum.
- Keep the charging dock in a fixed spot with clearance on both sides, because moving it around confuses the saved map.
- Schedule cleaning for a time when you are home (mornings, for example) so the noise does not bother you, especially the dock's emptying cycle, which is loud for a few seconds.
- In heavy dust season run it daily instead of every other day — short, frequent runs keep the house cleaner and go easier on the filter.
- Empty the dirty water tank and dry the mop if you are leaving it unused for a while, so it does not start to smell.
